Corporate Information & Geomatics

 

The Corporate Information Coordinator is responsible for the integration of corporate data for the dissemination to citizens, council and staff in an accurate and efficient manner.  This position works closely with all Town departments regarding digital data storage and retrieval and on developing corporate key performance indicator statistics.

The Corporate Information Coordinator is also responsible for the well established geomatics program.  Geomatics can be defined as the science and technology of gathering, storing, analyzing, interpreting, distributing, and using geographic information.  The geomatics program began in 1997 and has evolved into an extensive GIS (Geographic Information System) database that includes detailed base data, high resolution aerial imagery, ½ meter elevation data and multiple web based mapping applications for citizens, council and staff. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing and maintaining all digital corporate information
  • Creating and maintaining departmental and corporate digital data and maps, including the on-line Interactive Map available for public use
  • Updating and enhancing comprehensive databases which provide each staff member with fast and easy access to their specific data
  • Create custom hard copy map print outs and color scanning, upto 42 “ wide

Mapping information / layers available on the Interactive Map and for hard copy print outs include aerial images, property fabric, roads, contour lines (elevation), zoning, Official Plan data, landmarks,  businesses, public services (schools, community centers, churches, etc), trails and public parks.
